Trail air suspension air bags

Anyone having problems with trail air suspension bags loosing air over short period of time. Mine continues to loose air at slow rate and looks like it would stay constant.

Try airing them up to 100psi for 24 hrs when parked, then set to proper pressure. This has helped to seat the fittings and stop leaks.

Mine always leaked down to about 20 lbs. I aired it up before each trip.

Mine has always leaked some over time. Not that much but enough to cause you to have to air up (5 maybe as much as 10#) next time we get ready to pull out, usually every 3-4 weeks. Some of that could probably be attributed to temp changes from trip to trip this time of year.
Gonna try the 100# experiment like Bill says and see if that helps.

I have one side that holds very well and the other leaks down in a couple of days. I've looked for the leak at all the fittings with soapy water but haven't found the leak.:? Does TrailAir have a factory service center?

BTW, what pressure does everyone run in the bags?

I seem to run about right at 75# on the off door side and 70# on the door side.
70# in the hitch, if you have Trail Air hitch.

We had one side that was leaking down to 25-30 psi last year, and after setting at 100psi overnight, it cured it for the rest of the season. Only loose about 5 psi in a month.

We run about 60-70 psi on average in the bags, it gives the recommended 5.25" across the bag plates thats required for optimum function. Everyones pressure will differ depending on actual wts. Trailer needs to be connected to truck and ready to tow, on hard level surface when setting.

Call the 800# on the side of your pinbox for Trailair for any questions, they are very good.

sigo, did you weigh one side at a time or do you measure the bags?

I weighed when it was new before we loaded it and had 12,240 on the axles with a 15500 total trailer weight. I still need to weigh with all our things loaded.

billr, I had 100# in them while looking for the leaks. In my case it didn't change anything. I wish it was that easy but I guess I'm not that lucky.

Without hijacking this thread, can someone tell me if they also have trouble with double posts using IE7? I'm using the tabs and when I go back to the tab I used to send the reply, it resends it.

Make sure you leave the 100 psi in for around 24hrs, it takes time to seat the fittings. Hope it helps.

No, I didn't weigh the unit. Arrived at those pressures by trial and error.

Fix'n to go out now and lower the pressure back to normal from 100# I have had on for the past 24 hours. Hope it works.

Regards your double posts, I find that I can't hit the back button after I have submitted a post or it will post again; so I exit my browser and set up again. You can not delete your post but you can go back on edit and erase it to minimize room taken on thread; then say 3 hail mary's and two our fathers for penance!! :lol: :lol:
