2006 RL38 42" TV Removal

Greetings,
I looking to replace the Sony 42 Plasma, with a new 46" 3D TV which is the same size as the 42.
I have felt behind(can't see) the 42" and don't feel any release pins for the mounting bracket. In my blind search it feels like L bars and rod's that hold it to the wall. What is with that?

How do I remove the TV and do I need a new mounting bracket?
Is the Plasma mounted with a standard TV Mount?

Good Grief if not

Thanks in advance
John

We replaced ours in our 07. If you get hold of the bottom of the TV and pull out towards you it will flip up and give you the ability to see behind it..It is hinged.

I just tried, but it doesn't flip out, don't want to pull to hard and rip it out
I was able to get my hands under it and there is a rod with what feels like a nylon lock nut on it at the bottom of the L brackets. does this need to come out before it flips up?
and after that, then what is there another rod?

There may be a difference between your 06 and our 07. We don't have to do anything other than pull out from the bottom. If you call customer service at D-RV they can tell you how to get it. They have always been real good at explaining what to do for us.

Don't know about the Plasma but we had the 32" Samsung LCD replaced with a 40" LED and the 32" bracket would work on the 40". Drv had to make a new mounting bracket. I do know its bolted at the top, and I can't put it out at the bottom its in a fixed position. Good Luck...

DH can't quite remember how he lifted up the Plasma in 2006 Elite. But it took two because they are heavy.

Plasma hangs on a rod that is attached to the top and the rod sits inside two hooks or brackets. But am not sure if there is a nut that loosens up so it lifts from the bottom.

The new one may need a different type of wall bracket. But you won't be able to tell until it's removed and you see the pattern of mounting holes are on the back.

Mine tilts up from the bottom by simply pulling equally on each side. The mounting bracket should work on your new TV.

Top and inside there are two bolts that need to come out. Then the TV will move forward. Then you need to lift the TV up and out to clear the notch the TV bracket rests in. This is a heavy unit. Careful to not mar up the wood rail in the bottom front. This is not a Sony wall mount, but a DVR mount. So you will need to adapt it to your new TV.
