2008 Chrome Bumpers

After only 5000 miles I have chrome peeling off the bumper. The metal under it is rusty. Ford dealers sympathize but say even though obviously a plating problem NO WARRANTEE. Anyone else have this problem?

No problem with ours, but we are replacing it hopefully next week. David thinks deer might be a problem for us in our travels. He's concerned about the vulnerablity of the radiators. So he's having one made up from Buckstop.

bumper rust

I cannot see how this would not come under the 3/36 bumper-to-bumper (pun intended) warranty. Especially when under 12,000 miles. You are not talking to the correct person, or you need a new dealer.

bumper problems

igotjam

Sorry I did not realize you are in Canada. Based on my experience with Ford in the US--if it looked like that so soon, I believe it would be covered.

By the way, what meaning is in the name "igotjam"? Just interested.

Wingnut60 (I'll bet there's a story there)
The "IGOTJAM" is a long story but the short version is that way back my friends and I used to comment on performance street vehicles as "having jam" if they had sigificant power, could accelerate quickly etc. (perhaps it was a local thing...never heard it elsewhere). Anyway once I owned a truck that could do that, I bought a personalized (vanity) plate limited to 7 letters that said "IGOTJAM" It was a fun time in my life and something I can remember, so I use it for computer names etc.

bumper problem

I can only relate to what I could get done with my 350 at the same miles/time if the bumper had done that here in Texas. Maybe you should start the "dealer dissatisfaction" process outlined in the owner manual. Be sure and have documentation as to who you have been declined by and why. Are you saying the dealer says it is Ford problem and Ford says it is a dealer problem? I honestly can't imagine a Ford dealer down here declining to handle such an obvious defect from the factory. But, then, no winter ice/salt down here, either.

As to my handle: being a "wingnut" is a friendly, derogatory redneck term for someone who can't even turn a wingnut correctly, thus my being referred to as a wingnut by some of my buds. The 60 is reference to the 6L diesel, thats all.

It has been my experience that Ford is trying to save money lately.

I have bought six new Fords in the last 10 years, and the last two times I have been into two different dealers for warrenty work they would do nothing for me.
In the past, after buying a new truck, Ford would send out surveys, and act like they cared when I was into the shop for service.
Not any more...
It is very apparent to me that Ford has told its dealers to cut corners.

If you think it's bad at Ford you should be working at the KY truck plant right now,a 38-42 year old plant manager married into the family and making a name for himself on the backs of a lot of us dues paying members backs.Things are Total crazyness now.
Sorry about your bumper I hate to see things like that but they continue outsourcing everything they can and only want us slap them together and believe me quality is really spelled QUANITY on the assembly line.
Good luck on getting it replaced as it should be.

Ishie,
Hope you noted this was a 4-yr-old thread. But if you are interesed in what black accents would look like, check out the SuperDuty work trucks with the black everywhere--I don't think they look good at all.
