Power control panel
the power control panel behind the door where the slide switches are in our 2009 Mobile suite is only showing 30 amps even though we are plugged into 50 amp power. We can operate both a/c's but I am perplexed as to why it is not indicating 50 amps. We had the state park folks check the 50 amp service and he said it was showing 240 volts. Any ideas on how I can troubleshoot the problem,
Rick

Have you been plugged in somewhere else with 50amp service and what did it show there?

Do you have two legs--like L1 and L2--that show, or just the one feed? Keep in mind, I am not an electrician, either. Remember, there are 2 feeds into a 50amp outlet--each one should be 50amp/120volt--each one would then supply 6000watts, for a total of 12000watts. If you can run both ACs at the same time, and something else like the MW or coffeemaker, then you are probably ok. If you actually only have 30amps, then turning anything else on with both ACs on, should trip your main breaker, or the pedestal breaker.
Thats the best I can offer, and probably just confused things more...

L1 and L2 feed the controller but I only see one display of 50,30 or 20. Not sure where L1 and L2 are located.

Are you sure the display isn't showing how many amps your actually using. On our display, which is a Progressive Industries EMS, the display shows how much you're using, not the amount of power available.

Rperrym,
Unless you have the Progressive Industries power protection device, you won't see readings of L1 and L2. Those readings are only on the remote display for the PI system.

Our 2014 MSE PMS lights up on 50amps when on shore power.
But on our 2009 MS PMS, it would only light up as 30amp when on 30amp site or on generator. But if I recall, we had to switch two wires, because DRV had miswired something. They also mislabeled our 2006 ES, but didn't have a PMS on it. Do I see a pattern...

Our power control panel is labeled Precision Circuits Inc.
To Hitchup, do you remember which two wires you had to switch?
I do believe we are getting 50 amp service to the trailer as we have run both A/C's and the microwave and hot water heater, but I sure would like confirmation from the panel. Our indication choices are 50 amp, Gen, 30 amp and 20 amp.
I wonder if the tech support guys at DRV could help?
Thanks for all the input so far.
Rick

I actually believe what you are looking at is the invertor indicator panel, not the PMS system.
If you look closely it will have an option of "off". Push button I think. "off" turns the invertor off and allows the circuits to actually bypass the invertor and run directly from the shore power instead of the batteries.
When you get ready to hit the road again just turn it back on.

Thanks Bill. What I am looking at is a panel behind the door that houses the slide controls, scare light switches and some other switches. The panel says Power Control System, and has a Service heading over one column of indications for 50A, Gen, 30A, and 20A, and another column that says Status heading over indications of REFR, WH, A/C-2, and A/C-1.

Probably hitchup has the answer, but which wires to move??? Can you change the power to 30amp where you are and see what shows up on the display? Might just be a simple wire switch from each display module--i.e., the 2 source displays are backwards--maybe.

Boy, was I ever confused. Seems my memory isn't as good as I would like to think. I got off my duff and actually looked this AM. I was confusing several displays.
What you are looking at is a Precision Control Systems item #10025-500.
Here is a link to the page that discusses it's workings and operations. You just push the select button to select which mode you want according to how much power is available and then it's all automatic.

Sorry for the confusion and misdirection.

Thanks Bill. That is exactly what I have. However, when we push the select button, it only lights up the 30 amp or 20 amp indications. It will not select 50 amp, but I was able to run everything we needed with the 30 amp indication on. When we got back to our storage building, and I plugged into the building's shore power, the a/c's tried to start, and the panel automatically shut down one a/c. (The storage building only has a 30 amp breaker in a common panel.) So, maybe we had 50 amp when we were in the State Park, even though it did not indicate it. Have to make some calls to DRV and the previous owner. Still a mystery on how to correct this problem.

David originally called Precision Controls and was referred back to DRV.
Note: the wires that he walked David (not a tech) through, were two main wires on the floor control panel, (WH & ?) not the PMS system. The 50amp never did light up.

Thanks Hitchup. I called the number and asked for Kent but the gentleman in Tech Support, did not know him. This was before I saw the date of the email.
He did say he would ask others in his dept. and call me back if they came up with an answer. I assume these two wires are in the 50 amp breaker panel??
Not sure I will proceed on my own without further instructions.
Thanks very much for the lead.

Sorry, I have no idea who is working in CS since the Heartland merger.
Kent left a year or so after that email. Tom Peck has retired and I've mainly dealt with Parts over the last 9 years. Then the last 18mos, we've dealt strictly with our dealer to get us everything - Parts, Cabinet doors and new moldings.

If nothing else, check the link below and send Slade at Rolling Retreats an e-mail. I'd bet that he could help you out, and if he doesn't know, he can tell you who to contact at DRV.
Rolling Retreats contact information
Slade's been good about helping folks out, even if they weren't a customer of theirs.

Thanks. I will check things out further and then give him a call. Tech Support at Mobile Suites did not have a solution for me.
