Heat Pump Option for 15K BTU A/C

When ordering the heat pump option for the 15K BTU A/C do you order that option for both A/C units or is it interconnected between the two and only requires one to be specified on the order? I will want heat from both A/C units.

You need to order for each of the units.

We only put one on and there has been many times that we wish that we had done both.

When you say "HeatPump", is it a heat pump or simply an electric heat strip ?

Thanks very much for the clarification on the heat pumps. I had it marked down for two then started to wonder. Sorry you missed out on getting the second one. I suppose a retrofit is complicated. Doubletree should add a choice for a second heat pump on their retail price list. They could sell more and people might not miss out on something they need.

I have also opted to install two Fantastic fans. The listing for this item is even more confusing.

OB, It is listed as a heat pump and I believe that it operates as one by reversing the function (or flow of heat) of the A/C unit.

To quote Dave in an earlier post:
"It is always a heat pump. In one mode it is pumping heat out of the RV into the outside air and in the other mode it is pumping heat from the outside air into the RV."

On Heatpump issue I have not seen any model other than
15,000 BTU available.
Make sure you order Fantastic fans (with rain sensor) in
order to get thermostatically controled units.
Without rain sensor is only on-off switch.
You can add thermostat to regular fans but it is not a reostat type.

Sounds like you are ordering, glad to hear it. Well you get it in time for the rally at Branson?

You have to order heat pumps in both units and you can only get them in 15000 btu as was stated by someone else.

You are very correct on the confusing orders the dealers don't even know for sure so if you are in doubt or want anything ask ask ask. I really wish I had gotton the heat pump and 15000 btu air up front also. I like the heat pumps they are quiet and seem to keep me more comfortable than the furnace. The furnace sounds like a jet engine running. I don't particulary like the Dometic units I wish they had an electric heat strip that way you could run them as long as you wanted. The Dometic heat pump I believe shuts down when the outside temp gets down to 39 maybe 29 degrees and switches over to furnace. I have found that my heat pump is not real reliable sometimes it works somtimes it dosen't. That being said I still like it a lot when it works it's great.

Got the new truck yet? And if you did what did you get?

We ordered the heat pump for the bedroom. Didn't think we needed one in the living riim with the fireplace.

We have the fireplace in our 06 36TK3 and it is a nice option but it dosent in our trailer anyway put out a lot of heat. It is only good to take a slight chill out of the room. We do like it though and use it a lot in the cooler evenings of the fall.

Thank you very much for your alert regarding the Fantastic Fans. Sorry I could not reply right away -I was off to the factory again.

You bring up a good point about the thermostatic control which I overlooked before. I am not so interested in the rain sensor but would like thermostatic control. In fact, Fantastic has a model that fits my needs but it is not offered by Doubletree.

I had planned to put vent covers over the Fantastic fans and therefore would not need the rain sensors (I would like to have ventilation while it is raining). However, looking at these covers at Camping World it appears the covers interfere with the fan cover opening completely. That is not so good. I believe the Fantastic people are sensitive to having their fans shrouded with these 3rd-party covers.

I am interested to know how many feel it is useful to have two Fantastic fans or is it satisfactory to have the Fantastic fan in the kitchen with the Create-a-Breeze in the bedroom. Are there add-on covers that do not interfere with the original fan covers?

Thanks for your comments on the heat pumps. I think we have a handle on that situation now. Always something to think about.

Congratulations (again) on your retirement! (I hope this time it takes! :P )
No truck here yet. Stil waiting on the '07.5 GM trucks. I understand they will begin building the 3500 CC DRW on April 19. It has been a confusing situation with these trucks but we must be getting close now. Sorry we won't make Branson. I am planning for delivery after that event.

Ref the vent covers over Fantastic fans, I tried to install some on ours, and it did interfere (not allowing it to open fully).

I was also told that the covers restrict airflow so much that if installed, don't run the ran above low speed, same goes for the create a breeze fan. It could burn them out?? Not sure how true this is, but it made some sense.

So I opted to leave them off for now. The rain sensor works fine.

Re: the fantastic fan, on their web site they say they have a "Lifetime " warrenty on their dome lids. They donot reccommend the use of covers. I had a travel trailer before and the dome lids fell apart due to the sun within 2 years , so I put on the Maxair covers. If you donot get the covers, you might want to reconsider the rain sensor. I have it and it works perfectly!
