Just gotta do it. :)

Hi there,

I saw the thread was empty so I figured I'll post the first one here.

We currently have an Excel 33RLE. We are fulltimers and have been living in it for almost a year. We've had it for about 3 years and it has been fairly trouble free. It is a heavy unit for it's size so if you are interested in them make sure you have enough truck to tow it.

The strengths are the cargo capacity (almost 5,000 lbs), the floorplan and it's robust construction.

Weakness is the lack of large tanks. (50 fresh, 50 grey and 50 black) and a smallish basement area. The long sliding trays are either a liability or a blessing depending on how bulky the items you want to store are. In our case we could have used the space better.

Enough from me, if ya got one brag about it. If ya want one ask about them. If ya got towing questions about them, ask them. These are good units but not too many folks know about them.

Hi motor31
We are on our 3rd Excel, a 33 RKO limited. This is our 3rd because we upgraded from a 30 Classic, to a 33RKO Classic, to the Limited. I love the fiberglass roof and the double-pane windows that were on the rig. We only had a chance to use it twice so far but looking forward to many more trips.

Hi Guys,

Just bought our new 33 RSE, used it a few days and now its sitting in our yard waiting for retirement and full-timing in October. Bought a 1999 Volvo 610 as a tow vehicle and love that too.

Have not had many problems with the Excel but have yet to be in it long enough to know if everything is OK. We took a week off in May to pick up the truck (MO), get our licenses (SD) and then get the trailer (VA) and then back to NY.

Hope tp meet everyone at a rally some day!

KC,

There is a HDT rally in Wichita KS on the first full week of October, If you can make it I think you'll have a great time. It's a good way to see several other rigs and get ideas of any changes you might want to make.

Thanks Motor31, I saw that but can't take any vacation time until I retire. Each day that I take off, results in one additional day at the end I have to work. So from now till I leave, I don't plan on taking any days off. My official retirement date is actually 2/1/06 and my last day of actual work is 10/24/05, the rest of the time is vacation and holidays.

Welcome KC. Watch your mail, I think the next Excel Family Reunion at Smith Center will be in May of 2006. That will give you a chance to meet many of the other Excelers.

KC,

There is a mini HDT rally in PA over the July 8th time frame if you can make that. I'll post the web address of the HDT thread covering the rally, dates and location. Maybe you can swing by there and take a look. Several of the same folks will be there. I won't unfortunately but lots of others will be. Sorry I'm so late wiht the info. It's on the ecapees forum under hdt and min rally in the NE.

This is the last of 14 pages about the rally so you can go back to look at them all if you want.

Cheers!
