Did you call them? I understand from the car people here that they do custom work, not just replacement.

I am waiting on my RDS TRANSFER TANK can I leave the gravity feed valve open without fuel back up and do I need a fuel filter on the line

Bob, we use a common, in line canister filter and just leave the valve open all the time. The filter does slow delivery rate.

Curious why you would need a filter on an additional tank?

He asked and I answered. Give me three reasons why an inline filter would be bad in this situation. Oh, that's right, you don't have this situation.
This system simply isn't for you. But it is for thousands of others.

New tank so it's clean, fuel that is pumped into main tank is not pre filtered. Engine has either one or two very good filters on a modern Diesel Truck. Not thinking it makes any sense. But hey I don't have one so I shouldn't ask questions or make comments.

Another option if the custom fuel tank is to expensive is replace rolling cover with one that gives the extra height.

On a prior truck, the RDS 40 gal tank worked for me but I had the hitch clearance.

I use the RDS 40 gallon fuel tank with the top tool box and it fits under the tonneau cover. The manual valve is left open but I use an electric solenoid valve that is controlled from the cab. A water separation / fuel filter is installed to take out any condensation that may occur in the aluminum tank.

UPDATE: KSH custom tank

And I can only have about 20" front to back because of my hitch base. I have scoured the internet and found nothing that will fit. Any one know where us RVers can get one manufactured to specific dimensions?
Update: After a few suggestions to contact KSH Tanks in Lake Havasu, I did just that. They sent me a template which I filled out with yr/make/model and my required dimensions. They even called me with further clarification on things that I didn't think of. They really know their business. I picked it up for $750 but the gauge and one-way vent and tax brought it to about $860. Reasonable for a custom fabricated tank that fits my exact requirements, and adds 70 gallons to extend my range beyond 800 miles. Happy.

Pictures? Sounds reasonable, mine was not custom and I paid more than that.
