of time at a park......d/h wanted to know what is the best thing to do with your fresh water tank.....add a little clorex or just drain every so often?

Drain and flush it. I let ours go dry after draining for a while then add 1/3 tank before moving on.

We've been in the same place since last August (except for a two week trip to Quartzsite in Dec/Jan).

We keep the tank full all the time while here, so if there's a problem with the parks water system (not unheard of), we have water. Every 1-1/2 to 2 weeks we use the water from the tank for a few days to cycle it, then we go back to park water.

During the winter, when temps got below freezing we used the water from the tank to avoid freezing up. The tank is a lot less likely to freeze than a water hose, even when the faucet and pipe are heat wrapped. We never froze the whole winter while neighbors all around us had hoses bursting or frozen solid. That's even during the time we had over 11 days of temps that never got above 28 degrees. We are very pleased with the MS's insulation and "heated" compartment.

Like Judy Gail, we learned our lesson to keep some water in the tank for emergencies. Most of the parks we stay in are on well water. So last summer when Hurricane Ernesto knocked out our power for over 24 hrs, we had our generator for important functions like: watch TV & use the microwave, but I had to use bottled water to flush the toilet!

It isn't hard to sanitize the whole system with clorox once a year. It seems like an important maintance procedure when some of the water sources are questionable. The water filters don't protect us from much.

When you have access to municipal (not well) water supply, just fill the tank with that water--it is chlorinated--and that should suffice for sanitizing the tank.
