Loose Wooden Step to BR/Bath

Recently I have noticed that the top step (2 total) to the Bedroom/Bathroom in my 43' Cincinnati has come loose. It moves forward about 1/8" to 1/4" when I place my weight on it.

Has anyone had this problem? What was the solution/fix?

Is the step surface itself moving or the riser/supports? Either way, the answer may be the use of a brad nailer--a nail gun that uses small brads that don't really leave a visible mark where they go in.
Our steps are 10 years old and have never moved, so haven't looked hard at how they are put together.
Let us know what you do to fix it.
Joe

I pulled off some of the corner molding and pulled the step out about 3/16 from the wall. I applied glue to the mating surfaces and pushed it back in. The step seems to be ridged for now.
