Westlake Tires
My neighbor has a fifth wheel with Westlake tires. I'm looking for information on that brand and made in China tires in general. Thanks in advance for your response.

I don't have a clue personally, but here is what I found with one Google search:
Westlake tires are not any good, according to CarsDirect. They are made in China by Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Company, a manufacturer that was forced to recall light-truck tires by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 2007 due to safety concerns. The recalled tires either lacked or had insufficient gum strips, which can cause the tread or belts to separate from the tires, resulting in a crash. Compass and YKS tires were also recalled, since they are also made by Hangzhou Zhongce. Chinese-made tires are cheap, but many experts in the automotive industry do not recommend them. Many of them do not meet industry standards and lack important safety and performance features.

I know the story on Goodyear Marathon tires, but what about Goodyear Endurance Tires? ST235/80R16 E for my 2010 Montana?

It's a new product. They will provide your axles with 28.5% in load capacity reserves at 80 PSI. And, at a higher speed rating than the Marathons. The best part is the Goodyear warranty package on tires made in the USA.

Westlake tires are getting some positive reports on other forums.
CalinSC,
How did you determine the load capacity reserve on someone elses' RV?

I looked-up the trailer's specs and saw that it was equipped with ST235/80R16E tires on 6000# GAWR axles and then did the math.

OK--every 2010 Montana has 6000# axles? Didn't know that.

Wingnut60, anything to add about the new tires from Goodyear. Tire Rack has them on sale for $125.00 plus shipping. 3460 lbs per tire.

I have no experience with GY tires except the older Marathons, which I had no problems with. One thing I hear about GY is their stand-behind-them policy if one blows and causes damages to the trailer--IF you hold onto the carcass and turn in the paperwork. I would have no problem with any GY product, except for the price...the '15 MS I just bought has 17.5 GYs on it, so I will have some experience with them in the next few years.

It has been very interesting read all about every one tire options and troubles. I have spent some time looking up specs, and talking to a couple of dealer here in town, one being the Goodyear dealer. He is in same boat as I (5er), we both need tires for our trailer. Goodyear has a new tire to replace the marathons, that just became available for retail, and is made in the USA. Endurance ST235/80R16 E 123/119N. We both have 6000 lbs axle under our 5er's. We will be ordering them and trying them out. He has a transporter that comes in couple times a month, and he see them on trailer and say they are much better than old booms.
