King Pin box upgrade?????
I just bought a older King of the Road Royal Villa. I think the weight is 16,500#. I'm wanting to upgrade the King Pin box for something that will assist in making the towing smoother.
I watched several You Tube videos and several seem good. Lippert makes several. MoRryde makes several and I know there are others. 5'th Airborne was another recommended.
I'm curious what all recommend, knowing everyone has an opinion. Trying to get a fix on what to do for my upgrade and where you bought yours??

I contacted Mor/Ryde and got the model # for my 5er and got it from Tweety's. I have a Trailer Saver air bag hitch and these two make a great combination.

Another vote for the Morryde pin box. I use it with a B&W Companion. Does fine for me.

We have used both the MorRide and the TrailAir and have been satisfied with both. Price is about the same and installation is relatively easy for a competent DIY'er.

Do you have a contact number for MoRryde? got my trailer and it has their suspension and the pin box. Enjoyed pulling it home! I notice when I try to grease some bushings will not take grease and two are in a space hard to get to. I assume I need to jack the trailer up to get access.

Jacking the trailer up will release the load on it and it will be easier to get the grease to go in.

I contacted them and they said the same, but the zerks might be plugged as old as they are! The two that are hard to access, they said you could put a 90 degree zerk on it and I will. Said grease every 6000 miles or every year.
I assume I need to lift via the frame of the trailer?

No, no advantage. We were towing large Raptors and didn't have any problems with either bucking or lurching.

As a newbie I'm in the same boat, considering replacing the solid pin box for something better. I've also ordered a B&W Companion 3600.
In fact, here's where I am with this, and I need to make a decision to take advantage of Black Friday sales that are ending soon. So, in order of consideration...
1) 5th Airborne 5AB-S500-700
21,000 lbs
Best price: $943 @ etrailer
Air bag and shock. Looks to buffer up/down (by 44%) but said to also buffer chucking by 60%. Those that have used it and the MorRyde seem to prefer to 5th Airborne.
2) MorRyde RPB72-1116-06
19,000 lbs
$599 Amazon
Simple chucking reducer that is very popular and with reports of being reasonably effective. Comes with many Montana's (not High Country).
3) Rotaflex 176440
19,000 lbs
$435 etrailer
Less common but found on some Grand Designs. Said to operate similarly to the MorRyde but by different means.
I actually wanted the Flex Air but it doesn't come in a 1116 version, so I think 5th Airborne is the closest. I've eliminated the TrailAir from consideration since despite being similar to the 5th Airborne it doesn't claim to be for chucking whereas 5th Airborne says it reduces chucking by 60% (accurate claim or not, it claims to serve that function). Also with the 5th Airborne the components are enclosed which I like.
I'm struggling way to hard with this decision!

I did the same research. Luckily my 2006 King of the Road came with the MoRryde from king pin box and the MoRryde suspension. Talk about pull like a dream.
I was pulling a hay hauler last week with a gooseneck style attachment. After having pulled the RV, you could notice a major difference.
