Duramax & Injectors

Just was wondering if anyone else has had problems with their Duramx losing power and the injectors going bad.

Yup!

Ours is an 04, LLY engine, we had #7 injector fail, putting it into "Limp" mode and had to tow, and about 6 mo later, the injector harness failed electricaly under heat conditions. Again towed. Been trouble free for 6 months and counting! Both problems are known issues with GM.

The earlier LB7 models had some issues with them as well, and they changed the injectors in 04 with the LLY.

I use Lucas fuel treatment/cleaner to help keep them clean. Advice from a mech friend.

Cheers.
Bill

2003 2500HD Injector failure

I've been through my 6th set of injectors in 180,000 miles and I've never lost power. It usually begins with a little extra smoke until I start smoking out everyone around me at the stop light. Once it took an exta minute of cranking to get it started. The amazing thing is the fuel economy get 3-5 miles/gallon better every time.

The best thing that happenned to me was finding a goodwrench plus dealer who gave me a life time warranty after they replaced the injectors. I never have to worry about that $5,000 bill again.

GM has sent me an extended warranty notification on my engine do to known problem they are having with injectors. The warranty was upped to 200K. I'm working with a dealer right now at 93K as my mileage has dropped to 11/13 none towing.

Just had my injectors replaced at 95K miles for poor mileage and loss of power. It was not missing or running that poor but I sure notice the difference now with them replaced. Have not had time to check the millage yet as a tank of fuel is going a lot father. I was down to 13 / 14 MPG from 19 MPG when new. At these fuel prices anything will help. At No cost to myself I must add.
