Broken Hydraulic Fitting

While driving west on I-30 near Little Rock, a truck blew a tire and I
ran over the tire casing. The casing hit one of the level up jacks and
fluid starting coming out. I thought I temporally plugged the end of
the line but a few minutes later, I noticed the land gear was coming
down. So, I called two DRV dealers near my location and both told me
that the 90 degree fitting was a specialty item and needed to be ordered
from DRV. Being a smart rancher, I pulled into a NAPA to see if they
had a simple plug for a temporary fix. To my surprise, they did not.
So I went to plan "B", locate a shop that specialized in hydraulic lines
and fittings. $5.26 later, I had the correct part - actually it cost
me $10.52. Remember, being a good rancher I bought two. Of all the
people I spoke to, Dave Titus from International RV was the most
helpful. Dave continues to be one of the most knowledgeable people on
DRV products. Thank you Dave. Oh, the part is a "C5OX STRAIGHT THREAD
ELBOW STEEL".

Thanks for the info, I do think before we depart for out winter trip I will make some type of shield to prevent objects from hiting those fitings. GBY....

The distribution block by the back jack (driver side on my rig) is ONLY held onto the trailer by the hydraulic fittings to the jack. The fittings are not proprietary, they are standard fittings and available at any hydraulic supply store or hose fabricator. As you go bouncing down the road keep in mind that somethings (too many of them too) are not properly braced in the rig and failures with the MS rigs are always an option.

When I had a straight fitting break in Washington I went to a hydraulic supply store and bought 3. One to replace the broken one and a spare of both the straight and 90 degree fitting for future need. I walked out after paying only about $10 for the three. I have already replaced a leaking line previously after taking the old one to a hydraulic hose fabricator. That was less than $20 and none of the hose fittings were salvaged as they were cheap one time use style.
