Digital Video Recorder (DVR)

I am replacing my 27" Sony analog TV with an LCD TV. I would also like to replace the VHS that came with the MS with a non-subscription (e.g. Tivo) DVR. The trouble I'm having is finding a DVR that will record both Over-the Air (OTA) and cable. There are units that record OTA and units that record cable but I can't find any that do both. As everyone is aware, some RV parks don't have cable TV so it's imperative that I find a unit that does both. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Ron

You may need to look in the used market if you can't find new. We had a Panasonic DVD recorder. It did both, but wasn't compatible with satellite, so gave it to our son in October. Not sure of exact model, but it was a first generation DVD recorder.

You will want one with the TV Guide logo. That way, it will pull up the guide for you in each new Zip Code. Makes it easy to record!

Reviews on Amazon tell you more features than technical writeup's.

I have the DVD hard drive recorder and it operates fine as a VCR replacement. But I have an internal tuner card(Wintv-HVR-1600 dual tuner) and an external USB tuner stick(Wintv-HVR-950) and Beyond TV program. That operates as a PVR it will tune Digital over the air, cable and clear qam cable. The Beyond TV has a 10 day schedule and you can set it to record all 'new' shows and it will find them just like TiVo you can also pause 'live' tv. With this setup I can record up to 3 shows at the same time. Here is where you can get info on whats available.

Hitchup, thanks for the info. The Philips was exactly what I was looking for. I ordered one today. 2 DA WDS, thanks also for the info but I'm obviously a little less techno than you, so I went with the easier approach. But thanks anyway.
