Shore Power Hook Up?
I am having a 50 amp RV box hooked up for our 5er, but just realized I don't know where the power cord hooks to on the MS. The Alfa we traded was attached to the front of the 5er. Please tell me where my 36TK3 plugs in. Thanks.

Rear, street side. Inside the back compartment and the cord is stored there too.

Thanks, Hobo. Now I can spend more money on the hook-up. But, it will definitely be cheaper now then later Can you hear that hmmmmm? That's me keeping the economy humming along!
'Nother ?. How long, aprox, is the cord?
Course, I wouldn't have to ask if we had our MS!

I think it is 20ft I'm sure that some one else will tell you for sure. I would go out and measure mine but it is raining cats and dogs here now.

Hookup is on ours is also in the rear streetside compartment through the bottom access panel.. our generator is mounted in a compartment streetside just behind the cab.. approx 6' in front of the hitch.. 50 amp cable is about 8 ft short of reaching it.. just got a 25' X 30 amp section... when I found it wouldn't reach I had to use what I could... stretched out 100' X 12-3 up and back length of combination to span the short distance.. overnight without heavy appliances in use worked fine.. now to try with 30 amp instead of 15.

John,
I had the same issue hooking to the genny in front, ended up with a 50ft 30amp extension and a 30/50 Marinco adapter to the trailer connection. It reaches with a little extra, a 30ft one was short.
Only drag out the 50amp monster cord if we have 50 avail, otherwise I use the same 30amp cord to the post too.

I went out and looked for a 50 amp extension cord to fit in most RV parks we go to. I got the 30' extension from an internet RV supply place I found after doing a google search for the cord. The 20' cord that came with the trailer would have worked had the power plug in the trailer been in the center of the unit. If you have to use one end of the trailer a 30' cord would have been a far better idea rather than 20'. Since we use the AC or heat pump as well as the washer / drier we use the 50 amp option almost exclusively The extension gets used far more often than not.
Unfortunately for 30' you will be looking at a cost of about $125 to $135 for it. Shop around as prices do vary. I tried looking for the components to make my own but the wire price alone was pretty high at over $3.00 a foot when I found it at electrical supply stores. The main hardware stores didn't have it but some did have the plug assemblies.

Bill: That reason is another reason why the genny prep worked out for me aside from that darn box in the front which I don't use for a genny, it included a 50AMP transfer switch and wiring to the front of the fiver with a dual-pole breaker. I just needed to run a wire from that breaker into my hydraulic pump service bay and when needing to run the genny I can use a purpose built cable to run from there to the truck.

That is a good setup Bruce. I have considered running an outlet into the genny compartment from the main panel, would need a safety disconnect though to be safe from myself! Really it is no trouble hooking up the extension cord when we need the genny.
