Seeing our roof rack was loose at the top, I took everything apart and found this. After this I put larger screws in and drilled out the holes in the brackets. Check yours. If the top of your ladder goes, so do you.

Thanks - Now it works, I thought I was loged in when I was able to reply. I will try to remember this but I suffer from CRS.
