If your original bearings on your 2004 are Never-Lube, I would change to something else. I've read stories of real issues with the Never-Lube, and in fact, we had two Never-Lube bearings start to leak. We replaced both of our axles for some with bearings that are called EZ-Lube ones. They all have grease zerks for them.

EZ lube with the zerks is a terrible idea and opens you up to pumping your drum with grease. Bad, bad news. Dont let anyone tell you different.

I HIGHLY advise contacting MORryde to have your axles replaced with their IS system that has Disk brakes.

Running the never lube Bearings to replace it would be over $600.00 I am thinking of getting new axels with the bearings and new breaks for $900.00 an axel and e done with it that would be the type to pump grease to the bearings but how would you do it not to get grease on the breaks not sure how much more it would be to get the is axels

The bearings are simply removed by the traditional method, cleaned and re-greased. The zerk makes it very easy to fill the cavity and push the seal out the rear, getting grease on the brakes. If properly done, and tightened there is no reason to add grease for the season.

The zerks came from the trailer boating world.
Don't know why they were carried over to the RV's

The clean and repack every year is over kill if it was done properly in the first place and quality parts used.

I keep hearing this, have you PERSONALLY had this happen?

I used this system for 4 years without a single issue of grease coming out the back seal.

I have since changed to oil bath using quality National seals.

I did the push pull wheel bearing test when RV was new and then greased using the ZERK and AMZ/OIL grease having someone rotate the tire while I pumped grease into the spindle and when red grease was coming out the front I wiped up the excess and replaced the cap. Wash Rinse Repeat every year and never opened it up.

When I pulled it all apart to start over from the spindle out with Timken bearings, National Seals, new rotors, new EBC yellow pads and new calipers the bearings and races looked new.

I run 17,500# on my two axles. I also never had one spec of grease coming past the seal.

This is simply an Old Wives tail. Unless you use the wrong or junk seals and use an electric grease gun.

Cummins, no I have not because I don't have the zerks, know that it is the wrong thing to do, and have known for years that it came from the boat industry. RV forums have any number of posts about people who have done it.
Go ahead and recommend it if you like. It is simply the wrong thing to do.

You left off a key part of my comment.

As to the myriad of RV forums, well.......

But for conversation, I had MOR/ryde IS and disc brakes installed on our 2010 Cyclone while still at the dealer, so less than 5 miles on the original hardware.

MOR/ryde ended up installing the wrong IS (7K) at that time and 4 years/22,000 miles later
MOR/ryde replaced it with 8K IS. Non china Timken and CR parts used

At that time the bearings, grease, seals looked as good as the day they were installed 4 years earlier.

I would agree any towable should probably have bearings at least checked within the first year.
